    From Library Journal

Fisher (Wall Street Waltz, Contemporary Bks., 1987), the author of the "Portfolio Strategy" column in Forbes magazine, here presents a collection of brief (three- to four-page) biographies of individuals who made notable contributions to American finance. Fisher's list of 100 embraces both the successes and the failures, with Chapter 7 devoted to "Crooks, Scandals, and Scalawags." Fisher opted to include only deceased figures, and all but a handful are Americans. Many of them (e.g., Vanderbilt, Morgan, Gould) will be familiar to all readers; others (such as Evangeline Adams, a fortune-teller who made market predictions for rich and famous clients) are less prominent but more entertaining to read about. This informative book achieves its stated purpose of being "fun." Recommended for libraries with large popular business collections; less suitable for reference purposes.
